Marie Lightman Prompt Response
About
The idea for 'Marie Lighman Prompt Response' came about when I was challenged by the author Valerie Laws in 2015 to write and blog 365 original prompts in 365 days. The result of this was 365 unique prompts. Since it's publication it has provided inspiration for poems, short stories and pamphlets and content of novels.
I am Founder of The Writers’ Cafe in Newcastle, which was started in 2012 in response to the idea that writers need an office where they can meet up with other writers, holding twice weekly writing sessions in a cafe environment. I am also a published poet, editor of two online collections including Writers for Calais Refugees and have published prompt in Miracle E Zine.
I find that where ideas come from is a strange place, sometimes workshops do not trigger a creative response and if they do, people might come out with similar content. I have looked at how I originally came up with ideas for my workshops and have thought for what people really like to write about.Taking the brain on adventures, thinking about psychology and philosophy, magical and mythical, finding inspiration from science and history, such as how is a snowflake formed?
This website is here to excite that part of you that needs to write.
